New head judge for Director of the Year Awards

IoD North East Director of the Year Awards

A new head judge has been announced for the Director of the Year Awards in Yorkshire and North East.

Simon Walton, a partner with Berwick Partners, an Odgers Berndtson company, will oversee the judging for the 2018 awards. Simon heads up the Leeds office for the Odgers Group. In addition, he leads the consumer practice nationally with teams in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Before joining Berwick Partners in 2006, Simon spent more than 10 years with two leading national recruitment organisations where he held key managerial positions.

The Director of the Year Awards recognise outstanding leadership in business across eight categories. The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner at the Principal York Hotel on  5th July – and entries are now open.

The categories for 2018 are:

  • Director of the Year (Large Company)
  • Director of the Year (Mid-Market Company)
  • Director of the Year (Small Company)
  • Young Director of the Year
  • International Director of the Year
  • Public & Third Sector Director of the Year
  • Family Business Director of the Year
  • Non-Executive Director of the Year

The winners go on to the national Director of the Year Awards.

Simon said: “Yorkshire and the North East is home to some of the UK’s most talented company directors who lead from the front and are a great example to the business community.

“We look forward to honouring the best directors at our annual dinner next year but now is the time to submit applications for these prestigious awards.”
