Do I have to be a company director to join the IoD?
No, the IoD lends support to a variety of business leaders across the nation and globally. This includes partners, managing consultants, and those who work closely with directors. There are different packages depending on your experience and the services you need.

Is there an extra cost to joining Special Interest Groups?
You can join any of our Special Interest Groups at no extra cost and you can join as many as you like. Please get in contact with the relationship team on +44 (0)20 8142 8835 if you wish to get in contact with a specific SIG’s leadership team.
Can I visit face to face events in other regions?
Yes, you are more than welcome in any IoD event and as a member, you will often receive a discount on paid ticketed events.
Does the IoD offer corporate membership?
Yes, we offer bespoke corporate memberships, to enquire please contact [email protected].
Can I pay monthly for Associate membership?
Unfortunately, we no longer offer monthly instalments for Associate membership; however, you can pay in monthly instalments for Full membership.
Can I speak at an IoD event?
To express your interest in speaking at an event please get in touch with [email protected].
Can I claim tax relief on my IoD membership fee?
Yes, you may be able to claim tax relief on your IoD membership fee, if being a member of the IoD is essential for your job.
Important points to remember:
- You cannot claim tax relief if your employer paid the fee.
- The IoD is an approved professional body for tax relief purposes.
- You can claim for the current tax year and the previous four tax years.
To determine the exact amount of tax relief you can claim, please consult with your tax advisor.

Does the IoD work with any third-party providers?

How do I become an IoD third-party provider?
If you would like to discuss becoming one of IoD’s third-party providers, please email [email protected] with a brief description of your organisation and the product or service. A member of the team will then respond as soon as possible.
Do you have a gym or accommodation available at 116 Pall Mall?
No, 116 Pall Mall does not currently offer on-site gym facilities or accommodations.
However, the IoD does have a network of business hubs across the UK that may offer these amenities. You can explore our hubs and their facilities here.
Can I upgrade my membership?
Yes, you can upgrade your membership from Student to Associate or Full Membership, or Associate to Full Membership. To do so, please contact [email protected] or 020 3855 4308 to arrange this.
How can I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership via your MyIoD portal. If the renewal link is not showing for you, please contact [email protected] and we can send you a new link by email.
Please note if you have opted to auto-renew your membership, you will not need to use a renewal link, your membership will renew automatically. If you need to update your payment details, you can contact us on 020 3855 4308 or [email protected] to do so.
If you are paying by continuous payment authority, you can also update your card details through the ‘Update Payment Details’ section of your MyIoD portal.
Can I cancel my membership?
We provide 14 days from the purchase of your membership, or your membership renewal, to cancel your membership for a full refund. Following this, you may still cancel your membership but will not be entitled to a refund. For those paying in monthly instalments, you will be liable to pay for the full membership year you’ve purchased. Where can I find a copy of my invoice/receipt?
If you are due to renew and would like to renew by invoice, please contact [email protected] to arrange this.
If you have made a payment, and are looking for a copy of your paid invoice, these can be found on your MyIoD portal, under ‘Paid Invoices’.
I am trying to register for an account on IoD.com but am getting the message ‘ID already exists’, What do I do?
This message means our system already recognises your email address as an account. Instead of registering a new account, you can select the ‘Forgot your password?’ option on the ‘Sign in‘ page to simply create a password for your account.
How do I obtain Fellowship with the IoD?
There are two paths, to obtaining a fellowship with the IoD. The first is to complete your Chartered Director Qualification.
Alternatively, you can apply to become a fellow in line with our fellowship criteria.
Please note that we have currently closed applications for fellowship due to a current review of our criteria and application process. If you’d like to register your interest, please contact us on [email protected] and we will get in touch once applications re-open.
Do you offer a physical membership card?
The IoD has been card-free since our pledge to improve sustainability and reduce our carbon footprint. Members can use their membership number and a valid form of ID to use our premises and services.

How many guests can I bring to 116 Pall Mall?
Members may bring up to 3 guests during their visit to 116 Pall Mall. Our full list of member rules can be found here.
What is the dress code at 116 Pall Mall?
We ask that members please dress as they would for a professional place of work when visiting our premises. Our full list of member rules can be found here.
Can I move Branch as I am in that area regularly?
Unfortunately, we assign the branch by the address on your account, however, we can add you to our communications for other branches to keep you up to date with any upcoming news/events for that region.
Can I create my own Special Interest Group?
Yes, please send through a proposal to [email protected] and the relationship team will see if this would be of value to our members as a Special Interest Group.
