IoD announces Connected Business roadshow for York
The Institute of Directors’ showpiece event for business leaders – IoD Open House – is heading out on the road, with York picked to host a Connected Business roadshow.
Following on from the success of its 2018 Convention, the IoD wants to give even more business leaders the chance to learn from, and network with, some of the business world’s most respected thought leaders.
The Inclusive Business roadshow, at The Grand Hotel on 30 September 2019, will include collaborative learning and inspirational presentations from leaders who will explore how connectedness will shape the future and help business grow in an ever-changing world.
Themes will include: ageing platforms and legacy systems; how AI can help SMEs; future cyber security risks; and the impact and benefits of 5G to business. There will even be a live hacking demonstration.
The Connected Business roadshow speakers touring the UK include: Major General Jonathan Cole MBE, CIO, British Army; Matt Palmer, award winning cyber security leader, innovator and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO); and Sylvia Lu, UK5G Advisory Board Member.
A special panel session, called Boosting productivity through technology, will focus on the pros and cons of utilising technology to boost efficiency and give advice and support on how to do this through upskilling and enhancing people’s leadership and management skills.
Jon Geldart, chair of the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “I’m delighted that York has been selected to host a Connected Business roadshow.
“Connections are everything in business. The best work happens when the right people and organisations are brought together to achieve more than they could do alone. At the heart of these connections is the technological infrastructure that enables us to collaborate. This event will help you discover how connectedness will shape the future and help your business grow.”
As well as York, the Connected Business roadshow visits Cambridge (14 May), Birmingham (10 July), Manchester (11 July), Bristol (26 September), Nottingham (27 September), London (4 October) and Mold (9 October).
Further IoD Open House roadshows will focus on Global and Inclusive Business. The Inclusive Business roadshow visits Jesmond Dene House, Newcastle, on 16 October, with the Global Business event taking place at The Deep, Hull, on 20 November.
Each half-day roadshow starts at 9am. For further details, including how to book tickets, visit IoD Open House on the Road
