IoD NI Team Update - May 2020

28 Apr 2020

Six weeks into the ‘new normal’ and we have seen lots of commentary, insightful articles and radical forecasting.

One quote, which has really hit home is from a recent McKinsey article: ‘The business landscape has changed fundamentally; tomorrow’s environment will be different, but no less rich in possibilities for those who are prepared’. IoD is about connecting, networking and supporting and we very much hold true to this in the current situation.

Through our regular emails, social media updates and personal connections we are doing our utmost to ensure you are up to date with the latest developments on government schemes, loans and ever-changing employment practices.

Do take time to read our updates, join the webinars, invest in your professional development and get prepared for whatever is going to be the new normal.

As an IoD member, please:

  • Visit our Coronavirus Hub: regularly updated and covers all recent amendments to the government support schemes. There is also information on Northern Ireland specific assistance. Access the hub here.
  • Share new innovations: NI members continue to demonstrate immense agility in developing new products, forging new partnerships and supporting new ways of working- we can help make those connections!
  • Influence policy: Potential Exit Strategy continues to be a prominent area of discussion. We are sharing our members views on practical solutions to ensure new and safer ways of future working. We need your suggestions on these.

Webinars and Online Events

Due to the new restrictions, it has meant that currently we have had to put all scheduled events on hold. However, we have worked hard to go online and provide a series of timely and informative webinars for our members to remain connected and up to date in this rapidly changing environment.

Over the last 6 weeks we have covered topics such as Real Estate, Manufacturing and HR issues and how they have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A range of experts have joined us on these informative sessions including Tej Parikh, IoD Chief Economist; Robert Kidd, Chief Executive, HSENI; and Assistant Chief Constable, Alan Todd, PSNI, to name but a few.

We have a comprehensive series of both local and national webinars, aimed at keeping you connected and informed as we wade through these unchartered waters. Please keep an eye on our event page and social media channels as we update them frequently with free webinars for members.

We are keen to hear your thoughts on future webinars on what topics you might find useful. Please get in touch with if you have any ideas for upcoming webinars, speaker suggestion or if your organisation would like to partner with us.

The IoD NI team remains accessible via email and mobile.  Please keep the channels open and stay in touch.  And most importantly, stay safe.
