Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?
I’m not sure but about 8 – 10 years
Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?
An experienced coach, trainer and facilitator specialising in developing Leadership Skills and improving Team performance. An Accredited Executive Coach with 14 years of coaching, training and facilitation experience working with clients to create transformational change in individuals, their teams and their business.
Prior to becoming a coach and trainer, I worked for over 20 years in senior management roles in technical and commercial areas in international blue-chip manufacturing and professional services businesses. I worked in the UK, Europe, North America and the Far East across a diverse range of businesses which gave me extensive experience of working with cross-functional and multicultural/national teams, latterly being MD of the Asian subsidiary of a global business.
Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?
Building the profile of the IoD in Hertfordshire and interacting with business owners to increase engagement with the IoD at a Branch and National Level.
To increase awareness and engagement with the Health and Wellbeing agenda.
To contribute to the development the IoD Health and Wellbeing policy.
Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?
Spend time to find the thing that you really love to do and focus your attention and effort on becoming the best you can be.
Always plan time in your diary for quality thinking.
Get a mentor.
Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?
A passion for sailing which I do regularly – racing in the Solent.
Skiing and other sports.
Theatre and travel
Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?
How to get businesses to really appreciate the value in creating the environment and space for quality thinking which leads to innovation and motivated employees.
Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?
To share knowledge and expertise, to input into policy so that the IoD has a wider understanding of business issues to enable it to truly represent the business community, both corporate and SME.

To take advantage of IoD education programmes.
