Introducing IoD Ambassador for... Innovation

21 May 2020

Meet Lindsey Newman-wood, IoD East Midlands Ambassador for Innovation

Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?

2 years

Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?

After a long career in senior marketing roles I set-up Passion Marketing in 2012 which provides marketing consultancy, support and training to SME’s and Local Authorities across the Midlands. The business has since evolved and now offers innovation consultancy and workshops to help businesses be more disruptive and innovative with their teams.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Ambassador?

I want to help champion the businesses in my region and be a voice for its members, representing their views and helping the IOD shape the future of its membership.

Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?

To be more patient and don’t be afraid to be yourself!

Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?

My family! I have 2 teenage boys and a husband who are all part of a rock band that play and entertain audiences across the region.

Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?

The biggest issue that gives me most concern at the moment is the lack of government support that Directors of Limited Companies are receiving right now. I know the IOD are lobbying to help address this but my concern is that for some businesses it will be too late for them to survive this challenging time.

Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?

Being a Director of a business can be a lonely place, the IoD offer so many great membership benefits such as mastermind groups, training and development, networking opportunities and a trusted community to share challenges and issues. Not to mention the great business information service and specialist advice and legal support you can access.

Hear from Lindsey herself on the the challenges of the current crisis and how we can remain innovative during such a time.

Lindsey will be speaking in a National Webinar on Innovation on the 2nd June.To find out more click Here.
