Are you getting the best from your IoD membership?
As an IoD members, you probably use some of the benefits of your membership but I want to make sure you are maximising the full scope of advantages that the Institute provides.
The IoD was awarded a Royal Charter back in 1906. Such a Charter is reserved for bodies that work in the interest of the public and represent pre-eminence, stability and permanence in their field.
Part of the Leicestershire and South East Midlands branch’s offering to members is to ensure that you have a public platform and can connect, gain influence and develop your skills.
Your voice matters
We recognised quickly as a local committee that there was a need to engage more proactively in ensuring that membership communication is two-way.
IoD Policy Voice is available to members to comment upon issues arising nationally. The findings of these surveys are fed straight into Government at the highest level and we achieved some significant wins, particularly during the pandemic.
Whilst recognising the importance of the national voice, our ambassadors and committee locally want to ensure that members’ voices are heard just as clearly on local issues impacting upon our area.
Therefore, we want to hear about the issues and challenges that you are facing. We will be reaching out to groups of members locally for views and comments on key topics from our region.

Advice at the end of the phone
An easy way of gaining a return on the investment in your membership is to utilise the excellent Business Information Service. The team are your extra pair of hands in the office and provide a valuable resource of marketing material, research information and data that could otherwise take days to assimilate – all with a 24-hour turnaround.
Any member not taking advantage of their 25 enquiries a year is not making the most of their membership. I cannot recommend the team highly enough.
