Head of External Affairs
Jamie Kerr is Head of External Affairs at the IoD.
Jamie leads the IoD’s government affairs and policy advocacy across Westminster and the wider UK political community. His primary responsibility is driving the Institute’s regular engagement with ministers, parliamentarians and senior civil servants to ensure the voice of IoD members is heard at the heart of Whitehall and beyond. He regularly attends the meetings of the numerous business advisory boards across government departments and sits on the London Business Board on behalf of the IoD.
Prior to this role, Jamie was head of tech and entrepreneurship policy at the IoD, driving the IoD’s tech policy agenda at the 2017 General Election. He still works closely with the IoD99, the IoD’s start-up network, to amplify the voice of entrepreneurs in Westminster.
Jamie speaks regularly at events around the UK and represents the IoD in the national media. He is a German speaker with an MA in Politics from the University of Edinburgh and has previously worked in both the US House of Representatives for Congressman Tom Petri (R-Wis) and UK House of Commons for the Rt Hon David Willetts MP and Rt Hon Nick Herbert MP.
