Transition and Brexit – what you need to know

04 Sep 2017
The Institute of Directors has just released a brand new report explaining steps government must take in a transitional period after leaving the EU, downloadable from the website.

I think it’s fair to say a transition period post March 31st 2019 is unavoidable and business has got to understand the implications and start planning.

Most importantly for me the report answers the question about the Single Market. Despite what you might have read, we cannot leave the EU and still remain part of the Single Market. The report however looks at how we can re-enter, by firstly re-joining the European Free Trade Association and then negotiate back into the EEA (European Economic Area) Agreement.

If this makes your head spin and just want to know what you can be doing in your business to start preparing, the IoD website also has great resources at hand, covering finance, minimising supply chain disruption, business continuity, contracts, employment law, cyber security and opening up new markets outside of the EU for your products and services.

Now is the time to act and take control of the future success of your business!
