The North West Institute of Directors has announced the appointment of Chris Ward as Chair of its Cumbria branch.
The Institute of Directors (IoD) is the UK’s longest-running organisation for professional leaders, and is supported nationwide throughout a network of regional branches. IoD NW has approximately 1,800 members covering the region, who have access to a calendar of high quality and diverse events and training programmes as well as many other practical solutions to support business growth and enhance leadership.
Chris’ appointment was approved by the national IoD board at a meeting in February; he takes up his post immediately. Speaking of the news he said: “I am delighted to formally take up this role, extending the work I’ve been doing as acting chair.
“Cumbria is home to major industries which impact greatly on the boarder UK economy; it’s my role as branch chair to help promote them and maximise the potential and opportunities we have in this county.”
Ward has over 30 years of operational and strategy experience, working in various senior management roles across the globe and is managing consultant of PDCA Consulting Limited. A passionate advocate of British manufacturing, Chris has been involved in a diverse array of industries from aircraft engines to FMCG, helping large and small companies to record significant increases in turnover and profitability. Representing the IoD, Chris has recently joined the Centre of Nuclear Excellence (CoNE) Business Enabling Task Force.
Rachel Smith, NW Regional Director at the Institute of Directors added: “Chris brings decades of business experience to the region and we’re pleased to be welcoming him on board. He will be acting as representative for local business leaders in the Cumbria community, ensuring that the training, events and networking opportunities delivered by the North West IoD respond to their individual needs.”
Two further appointments were made to the North West IoD – Lee Petts who takes up the role as Chair of the Lancashire branch, and Paul Battye who is appointed as Chair in Manchester.
