With just a couple of weeks to go until the country goes to the polls, IoD Director General Stephen Martin outlines what is important to our members – and what we’re doing to ensure the voice of business is heard loud and clear in the debate.
When the Prime Minister - whoever that may be – settles down at their desk on the morning of June 9th, they will have a full in-tray. From ensuring our education and skills system is fit for the future to upgrading creaking infrastructure, Government needs to work to bring our economic fundamentals into the 21st century. Answering the hoary old question of how to spread wealth around the country, and giving our start-ups the support they need to scale-up, will be difficult, but necessary.
And of course, whoever is in power will be the key British voice in the forthcoming Brexit negotiations. How will we get the best deal? What will our relationship look like with the world beyond the continent?
