It’s not just 20 years of sporting and business experience that have made Penny – one of the most successful women rally drivers of all time – a weighty authority when it comes to the psychology of success: her life is an extraordinary story of achievement in the face of adversity.
Leaving home at 14, Penny lived in homeless hostels in London for two years, before working her way to becoming a sound engineer and a graphic artist.
Having since qualified as a performance coach and sports psychologist, she’s worked with groups including world class sports people (including Formula 1 teams), honing their attitudes, approaches and mental performance. She’s also worked with blue-chip clients including Volkswagen, Jaguar, Aid, Autoglass, Ford, Sony, BlackBerry Exchange & Mart and Equity Insurance.
Penny has also worked as a precision stunt driver in a Renault Clio commercial, done a few rounds in the boxing ring, run four marathons and a triathlon, learnt to play polo and completed successful ascents of the North face of Mount Elbrus and Mount Kilimanjaro.
A well-qualified candidate, we’re sure you’ll agree, to give invaluable pointers on the following:
- How to eradicate the assumption that being a world-class achiever is only for ‘special’ people
- How anyone, without exception, can mine their own inner traits and find what it takes to be exceptional
- How to embrace the idea that potential fulfilment is nothing to do with a person’s nature, everything to do with choice – and therefore available to all
