Our highly successful military event in National Apprenticeships Week at KPMG Canary Wharf attracted over 130 business and armed forces leaders.
‘Digital Skills – Think Military Apprenticeships’ highlighted the important transferable skills veterans can bring to the workplace at a time when apprenticeships are becoming incredibly important to the UK economy following Brexit.
The anticipated skills shortages in key industries such as Care, Construction and Hospitality make the case for home grown skilled people. Military veterans have a proven learning track record and with 14,000 of them coming into the UK labour market each year they represent an excellent pool of labour. The Apprenticeship Levy provides employers with an effective mechanism to take advantage of the wide range of skills they have to offer within our economy.
Our expert speakers were:
- Matt Worman – Apprenticeship Programme Lead KPMG
- Rob Nitsch CBE – COO Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFAtE)
- Commodore Mark Cameron OBE – Head of Training, Education, Skills, Recruitment and Resettlement (TESSR)
- Euan Blair – CEO Whitehat
