Small and medium sized enterprises are a vital and significant sector of our economy, and one that relies heavily on advice around, and availability of, external funding sources. Whether it’s equity, debt and/or grant giving, being able to obtain supportive finance is critical for success. Kitty Ussher - Chief Economist at the Institute of Directors
Kitty Ussher is a UK macroeconomist and public policy research professional and the Chief Economist at the Institute of Directors.

A former MP for Burnley, she served as Economic Secretary to the Treasury (“City minister”) during the early phase of the financial crisis and subsequently as a junior minister at the Department for Work and Pensions.
She then moved to the private sector, delivering public

policy thought leadership research projects for large corporates and charities.

Kitty has served on the FCA consumer panel and in addition to her work at the IoD is also a NED for an asset manager and a fast-growing fintech.

Sam Smith – Founder & CEO of finnCap Group plc

Sam established finnCap in 2007, having orchestrated the management buy-out of a small broking division of JM Finn & Co Limited, a private client stockbroking firm.

She is the first female chief executive of a city stockbroking firm and as such is a supporter of social enterprises designed to inspire and engage the next generation of female business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Zuleika Salter - Co-Head of Private Growth Capital at finnCap Group plc

Zuleika joined finnCap in October 2021 as Co-Head of Private Growth Capital.
She joined from WHIreland where she spent the last three years building the private equity division, leading numerous growth capital transactions across a range of sectors.

Michael Schulkins - Relationship Director at HSBC, South Region 
Mike is a Relationship Director in HSBC’s Mid-Market team based in Hampshire & Dorset - and has been in corporate banking for over 16 years.  He has worked in three high street banks, building experience of complex funding transactions across London & the South and managing global relationships.  His work with HSBC also involves being the Sustainable Finance Ambassador regionally; supporting businesses on green or sustainability-linked funding and connecting with the local community of sustainability professionals.

Chris Pett - Digital Innovation Sector Lead at the SETsquared Scale Up Programme
Chris helps business to grow from the first idea to investment and scaling, through training and advice. He works with SETsquared to support startup founders in the South and South West of the UK to create and deliver their go-to-market strategy, investor pitches and grant funding proposals. Before becoming a full-time startup advisor, he was Head of Delivery at the Open Data Institute in London.

George Dunlop - Director of Partnerships & Co-Founder at Quantum Dice
George Dunlop is Cofounder and Director of Partnerships of Quantum Dice Ltd and a former Quantum Technology Enterprise Fellow at the University of Bristol. Quantum Dice is an award-winning, fast growing quantum technology startup backed by world leading innovation from the University of Oxford.

Random Number Generators (RNGs) are essential components of modern digital technologies as they generate the cryptographic security keys used in a wide range of commercial settings.
