IoD Online: The Science and Practice of Paradoxical Leadership

17 Sep 2020
Online, Online

**ONLINE BOOKINGS HAVE NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING PLEASE CALL CAROLINE KEARNEY ON 07917 699498**

The extreme uncertainty and volatility of the current economic and business environment is wreaking havoc with our brains as well as our businesses.  There are many difficult decisions that leaders need to consider and many of them are paradoxical.

Paradoxical Leadership means being able to navigate the concept of ‘both/and’ instead of ‘either/or’, for example it requires the need to consider both economic health and public health, or both control and flexibility.  This can make your brain hurt!

In this webinar you will discover the following:

* The neuroscience behind Paradoxical Leadership and how to manage your brain at work

* What happens to our brain (and our intelligence) if we don’t get the balance right

* How to ensure your top team explores ‘what is right’ rather than ‘who is right’

* How to drive performance while maintaining positive working relationships

* How to navigate the Paradox of Communication so you can engage with a broader range of people

There will be time for Q&A so you can ask questions about the practicalities of Paradoxical Leadership and how it relates to your business.

This webinar will take place virtually on Zoom. Once you have registered to join, you will be sent a link to connect and to add to your diary prior to the meeting. This is a re-run and update of the popular session originally delivered in March.

Speakers

David Klaasen is a Practitioner in Brain and Behaviour Change and a Fellow of the CIPD.  He has been working with a broad range of business leaders for over 30 years.  From his first career in hospitality to working with clients in private, not for profit and public sectors he has gained valuable insights about what works in practice and what doesn’t.

He has helped his clients to manage and implement change by specialising in the neuroscience of leadership development with a focus on raising self-awareness.  This includes helping senior teams explore the culture of their team and how this can influence and impact the culture of the business.

By getting leaders see themselves and their teams from different perspectives David facilitates positive shifts in behaviour that improve clarity, inspire people and drive performance.  He has been a member of the IoD since 2000 and is one of the founding Directors of Talent 4 Performance.
