Mid Ulster is one of the most entrepreneurial regions in Northern Ireland with a diverse range of business sectors. Mid Ulster Council, local businesses and senior influencers understand that to fully harness this entrepreneurial spirit, significant encouragement and support must be provided in the areas of leadership, strategic direction as well as skills and talent.

IoD NI, through it’s ‘We Back Business’ campaign in conjunction with Mid Ulster Council’s ‘Skills Task Force’ are hosting an insight event to further develop the capacity and potential of the region.

This free event will combine a session on ‘strategic decision making’ and a talent and skills discussion with a panel consisting of Mid Ulster Council, IoD, and Edge Innovate.

IoD’s Chartered Director, Simon Haslam, a specialist in organisational strategy and strategic marketing and a member of the advisory council for the Institute of Consulting, will be providing valuable insights into effective organisational decision-making.

Dr Simon Haslam, Strategy Consultant & Change Facilitator



Dr Simon Haslam has 20 years’ experience as a strategy consultant and change facilitator, working with senior leaders around the world. Simon is the IoD’s programme lead for strategy work and holds the IoD Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction. He is co-owner and director of FMR Research Ltd, whose work has been cited in Westminster and Scottish Parliaments. He is also a non-executive director with a transport organisation and a non-executive director/trustee of the Social Research Association.
