Get to know your Regional Chair
Describe your role
I am regional chair for the IoD South West region.
What is your job?
I am a director of Yeo Consultancy. I provide support to SMEs to develop and implement their business strategy as well as providing support with operational issues.
I originally qualified as an engineer and have been managing director of a variety of engineering businesses, mainly in the defence sector.
Other roles
I have been an active member of MAKE UK and held positions as chair of its South West Advisory Board and National Membership Board.
What do you do to relax outside work?
My main hobbies are boating and golf. I have a boat in Poole Harbour.
How long have you been an IoD member?
I have been a member of the IoD since 2001 and qualified as a Chartered Director in 2002.

Professional development and business support
If you could give one message to the Prime Minister, what would it be?
Provide a longer-term focus.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 12 months?
Re-building the IoD networks in the South West.
What advice would you give to yourself when you started out in business?
Take all the opportunities that are offered to you.
Would you like to raise your profile and get closer to the South West business community? We are looking for members to join our regional committee as IoD ambassadors.
As an ambassador you will be a ‘go to’ person for members and other directors. You will provide thought leadership, support and guidance.
