Describe your role as an ambassador
I am the Policy and Governance Ambassador for the South West region. Part of this role is to ensure that members’ voices are hard within the IoD’s influential lobbying voice.
What is your job?
I am a founding partner of Brave Within, an independent network of experts providing innovative, insightful and proportionate solutions in governance, risk, control, assurance, legal and regulatory compliance. We are focused on changing governance, from within, for good.
Previous roles
I have over 10 years of experience operating as a member of the C-Suite and as a legal, compliance and regulatory advisor to boards within the automotive, online retail and financial services sector. I was general counsel and company secretary to Mitsubishi Motors UK Group, where I was chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee.
Other roles
I am legal and governance director for a niche law firm and a non-executive director of an e-commerce and beverage start-up business.
What do you do to relax outside work?
My main hobby is open water swimming.

Building and growing a business with like-minded individuals who share the same vision, purpose and values.
What advice would you give to yourself when you started out in business?
Be brave, speak up and spend less time worrying about what others think.
