IoD Natural Resources Group announces partnership with the Resourcing Tomorrow

The IoD Natural Resources Group is pleased to announce a new partnership with Resourcing Tomorrow. This collaboration underscores Resourcing Tomorrow’s ongoing commitment to fostering cross-sector dialogue and leadership within the mining and natural resources industries.

Founded in 2023, the IoD Natural Resources group provides a platform for directors and leaders across the natural resources sector—including mining, energy, water, forestry and agriculture—to exchange knowledge, promote innovation, and drive sustainable growth. The group is focused on building connections and ensuring the interests of its members are represented at key decision-making levels.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision for a sustainable and resilient future in the natural resources sector. Together with the IoD Natural Resources group, we are fostering an environment where business leaders, policymakers and innovators can collaborate to secure the critical minerals needed for the global energy transition.”
Andrew Thake
Divisional Director at Resourcing Tomorrow

The IoD Natural Resources group will be a key participant at Resourcing Tomorrow, which takes place from 3-5 December 2024 at the Business Design Centre in London. As part of their involvement, the IoD Natural Resources group will lead a vital panel discussion titled:

“Bridging the Divide for a Sustainable Clean Energy Transition – Securing Critical Minerals and Fostering Cross-Sector Collaboration”.

This session will bring together industry leaders to explore the growing influence of electric vehicles (EVs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and energy companies on mining supply chains, alongside critical minerals geopolitics. The panel, facilitated by Kruthika A. Bala, Managing Director of Resources Now and Senior Ambassador and Leadership Committee of the IoD Natural Resources Group, will feature prominent industry experts including:

  • Lamé Verre, Co-founder & Chair, Lean In Equity & Sustainability
  • Dr Marit Brommer, CEO, International Geothermal Association
  • Dr Lawrence Jones, Senior Vice President, International Programmes, Edison Electric Institute
  • Shobhan Dhir, Critical Minerals Analyst, International Energy Agency
“Our partnership with Resourcing Tomorrow reflects our commitment to responsible and sustainable development within the natural resources sector. Collaboration is fundamental for securing critical resources for a low-carbon future and we are delighted to contribute to this platform.”
Kruthika A. Bala
Senior Ambassador and Leadership Committee of the IoD Natural Resources Group.

“The availability and efficient use of natural resources is a key issue for UK business. It is essential that the voice of directors is heard in the debate. Partnering with Resourcing Tomorrow will enhance the IoD’s capacity to play a leading role in shaping a sustainable future, thereby underpinning the growth of the UK economy.” said Dr. Roger Barker, Director of Policy and Corporate Governance

Through its partnership with Resourcing Tomorrow, the IoD Natural Resources group aims to expand its engagement with the mining sector and explore innovative solutions for decarbonisation, resource sustainability, and the global energy shift.

This collaboration promises to deliver valuable insights for all attendees, bridging gaps between industries and accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices in the mining and natural resources sectors.
