Q: How long have you been involved with the IoD?
Formally only recently, however my first ever job was selling space in the IoD magazine, working on Elizabeth Street in London!
Q: Can you tell us a little about your career to date?
I have spent my working career developing and managing many businesses here and internationally, both publicly & privately traded, regulated & unregulated. My focus has always been on managing the business of the business and developing the organisations internally and externally.
Q: What do you hope to achieve as an IoD Branch Ambassador?
To help encourage entrepreneurship and innovation within Suffolk.
Q: If you could give your 21 year old self some advice what would it be?
Believe in yourself and remember it’s OK to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.
Q: What keeps you busy outside of work?
My family (wife, 19-year-old twins (boy & girl), a cat called Pud and Hero our 12 year old golden Labrador), gardening, technology and EDM.
Q: Are there any business related or policy issues that keep you awake at night?
Apprenticeships and employment law in general as I believe it has become too restrictive for entrepreneurs.
Q: Why do you think business leaders should join the IoD?
Only by coming together and having one voice will we ever be able to influence policy and decision making. As business leaders, we owe it to our employees and the country as a whole to make sure we have a forum of discussion on all things related to running a business.
