IoD East of England appoints foodbank head as charity ambassador

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Michael Beckett as its charity ambassador for Essex.

Michael is chief officer of Colchester Foodbank, a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in the local area.

IoD ambassadors enable greater connectivity, create influence, and drive professional development opportunities while giving the Institute its all-important local voice.

Michael is a Chartered Director and Fellow of the IoD. He won the prestigious Chair’s Award at this year’s Director of the Year Awards for the East of England.

He said: “I am looking forward to contributing to the work of the Essex branch of the IoD and supporting members by sharing my knowledge and experience in the charity sector as together we navigate the challenges that face directors as leaders of their organisations.”

IoD East of England chair Biplab Rakshi said: “I’m delighted to welcome Michael to our team of ambassadors. He brings a breadth of experience and knowledge to the ambassadorial role which will be invaluable in supporting the Essex business community and our members in embracing post-pandemic opportunities.”

Better directors for a better world

The IoD supports directors and business leaders across the UK and beyond to learn, network and build successful, responsible businesses.
