Essex Ambassador running the London Marathon!
A Member and Local Ambassador for the IoD, Peter Chalklen, will be running the 2025 London Marathon to fundraise for Prostate Cancer UK.
After more than 15 years of applying unsuccessfully for a ballot place, he is thrilled to be running 26.2 miles and celebrating the 45th London Marathon by joining up to 56,000 runners all pounding the streets of London on Sunday 27th April.
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men over 50 in the UK, and more than 52,000 men in the UK are diagnosed in their lifetime. Prostate Cancer UK aims to help fund lifesaving research and provide awareness and practical support for thousands of men and their families across the UK every year.
By day, Peter runs Jenkins Recruitment Solutions Ltd, an executive search and recruitment firm, yet changes into his trainers after work to get the miles in. He has been training for the last 8 months, having joined an Athletics club and also runs with two running groups to aid his training. He has been running up to 5 times a week and with a 21-mile run completed last weekend, he’s counting down to the big day.
“I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line, knowing all the training has got me there and I’ll be keen to say I’ve completed my first marathon. There’s a lot of hard work to do on the day, but having spectated at the Marathon previously, I’m excited to be the other side of the barrier being cheered on by the crowds, so it should be a memorable day.”
Everyone who sponsors Peter will have their name printed on his event t-shirt.
