Music legend Feargal Sharkey inspires directors at IoD Norfolk annual dinner
Special guest Feargal Sharkey supports new branch Chair on his mission to engage Norfolk business leaders and their employees.
Irish music legend and business man Feargal Sharkey inspired and entertained business leaders at the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) Norfolk Annual Dinner on Thursday 23rd May 2019.
In the stunning surroundings of the UEA Sainsbury Visual Arts Centre in Norwich, Feargal Sharkey shared with IoD members and guests the highs and lows of the music industry as well as heartfelt business advice on leadership and employee engagement;
“Ask yourselves this: When was the last time you stood at the door of your office at 5pm on a Friday, shook your employees’ hands, thanked them and wished them a good weekend? Don’t tell me employee engagement is difficult!” Feargal Sharkey said.
This year’s Annual Dinner was kindly sponsored by the Computer Service Centre from Norwich, specialising in IT solutions, services and support. Jeremy Clarke, Director of Computer Service Centre said:
“It has been a great pleasure to support the IoD Norfolk business community by sponsoring this prestigious event. Norfolk boasts a wonderful mix of large, long-lasting corporations, young, vibrant start-ups and the cornerstone of our economy, small to medium enterprises, which are all thriving with the support of the IoD. It’s important that business leaders can meet on special occasions such as this, to share our experiences and work together to capitalise on the opportunities which technological, economic and political change will bring”.
The event was also the perfect moment to welcome the newly appointed Chair for IoD Norfolk, Michael Harrowven, who, alongside the IoD ambassadorial team will now represent the Norfolk branch and its members;
“It is truly an honour to be appointed as Norfolk Branch Chair of such an outstanding organisation founded on solid traditions, helping to empower our members to be great business leaders”, said Mike Harrowven.
The IoD Norfolk Annual Dinner is a long established event where directors from all walks of business come together to connect with other leaders from throughout the East of England and share their stories and achievements of the last year.
The popular event came at a time when the IoD recently launched its rejuvenated programme to deliver the IoD’s vision, which places a strong emphasis on engagement, innovation and personal development;
“Under my Chair, IoD Norfolk will strive for a culture of engagement, which puts the members at its heart and encourages Norfolk’s Business leaders to recognise the IoD as the “go to” helping them to be empowered”, Mike Harrowven reported.
