Andrew Round

Andrew Round is an investment director and life sciences specialist with over 20 years’ experience in venture capital, fund management, university spinouts, and technology commercialisation. Now Senior Investment Director at Deepbridge Capital, he leads healthcare strategy, fund deployment, and portfolio development. He has supported 100+ companies, contributed to 20+ exits, and raised/deployed £150m+. Previous roles include senior positions at Praetura Ventures, Maven, MSIF, SPARK Impact, CPI, and IP Group.

Barry McCulloch

Barry is a passionate advocate for the role of smaller businesses in the economy, with strong expertise in finance and economic issues. At the British Business Bank, he represents the organisation in Scotland, raising its profile and supporting SMEs on their finance journey. He previously spent over a decade in senior policy and public affairs roles, lobbying governments, managing relationships, advising think tanks and authorities, and co-founding an employability start-up.

Evelyn McDonald

Evelyn is the CEO of Scottish EDGE, a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s early-stage, innovative, high-growth potential, entrepreneurial talent. Supported by the Hunter Foundation, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise and a host of corporate and individual donors Scottish EDGE now has over £4.2 million out on loan and awards £3.4 million in grants and loans every year to 90 winners across the length and breadth of Scotland.

Laurence Jamieson

Laurence leads a team of Financial Readiness Specialists who work intensively with SMEs, advising and helping them to get “funder ready” and thereafter identifying appropriate funders to approach, both equity and debt. The team are all either chartered accountants or bankers (please don’t hold that against them) and collectively have a huge amount of experience working with SMEs in the good times and during the more challenging times. Before spending the last 10 years in Scottish Enterprise, Laurence was a Director in RBS Corporate and Bank of Scotland Corporate.

Mary Canning

Mary Canning is a Partner at Epidarex Capital, a venture fund building innovative life science companies in the UK and US. She serves on the boards of several Epidarex portfolio companies and is an independent director of GU Holdings, the University of Glasgow’s investment subsidiary. Mary has 20 years’ experience commercializing early stage health science technologies and previously worked in leading UK technology transfer offices. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Edinburgh.

Mike Wedderspoon

Mike joined the Scottish National Investment Bank in August 2020. In his role Mike seeks to build relationships, predominantly across the private sector. Before joining the Bank, Mike worked in strategy & marketing for over twenty years at organisations including Accenture, RBS / NatWest and the private bank Hampden & Co. He is a passionate believer in the potential for Impact Investing to have a transformative effect on both the Scottish economy and society more broadly.

Patrick Burke

Patrick is an accomplished financial services professional with over 25 years of experience supporting SME's across Scotland. He began his career with The Royal Bank of Scotland before moving to Bank of Scotland then Virgin Money, where he built extensive expertise in commercial business lending and relationship management. In recent years, Patrick has focused on delivering Growth Loan Funds to Scottish businesses; initially through the Scottish Growth Scheme and now as part of the Investment Fund for Scotland.

Paul Scullion

Paul is a partner and head of the corporate team at Burness Paull. He advises clients across multiple sectors on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations, capital reductions, governance matters, and debt and equity investments. Paul also has extensive experience in venture capital work, acting for many of Scotland’s leading investors as well as its most innovative emerging technology companies, helping them navigate complex investment and growth transactions.

Siobhan Moore

Siobhan Moore supports business owners through key stages of growth, from preparing for investment to planning successful exits. With over 13 years’ experience in early stage investment and corporate finance, she helps leadership teams build value, navigate funding, and align personal and financial goals with a clear exit strategy. At Consilium, she also provides financial due diligence and grants advisory services. Her focus is investment readiness, confident scale up planning, and exit strategies that maximise value and minimise risk.
