North West

Message from IoD North West Chair - Mike Perls

Mike PerlsAs the fastest growing regional economy, the North West has an opportunity for growth that hasn't been seen since the Industrial Revolution.
In this environment, The Institute of Directors has a huge role to inspire leaders and support businesses of all sizes.
Leaders are inspired by greatness. They are inspired by businesses who have changed industries, broken new markets or developed cultures that have enabled growth that outperforms peer groups.
To support businesses, they need a voice on policy, guidance on governance and information that helps them make clear, informed and strategic decisions.
The role of the Institute of Directors is to support business when presented with all the opportunities we are seeing throughout the North West in key sectors such as Health and Life Sciences, Technology, Media and Telecoms, Advanced Materials and Manufacturing, Financial Technology, Professional Services and Energy. It is to ensure an understanding of assets like Wirral Waters, Alderley Park, Manchester Airport, MediaCity UK and the Graphene Institute to help guide growth plans.
Our interaction with business leaders needs to be two-way to ensure that we reflect the ambitions and needs of our diverse membership. Our leadership team in the region, and myself, are accessible and are keen to listen to all views.
I am honoured to Chair the Institute of Directors in the North West. I am aware however of the huge responsibility that comes with the appointment to ensure that over the coming years, together with our outstanding leadership board, we truly inspire the region's leaders and support our businesses in order to maximise the opportunities that lie ahead.
