Stakeholder Governance Findings from Surveys of IoD Members

Organisations need their stakeholders as much as their stakeholders need them.

An organisation that neglects the interests of key stakeholders such as employees, customers or local communities – or fails to understand its impact on them and vice versa – risks losing the ‘licence to operate’ without which It is very difficult for any organisation to be successful over the longer term. This paper summarises the views of IoD members, and asks how in practice their boards aim to understand and take account of the views of stakeholders.
