About the IoD Centre for Corporate Governance
The IoD Centre for Corporate Governance is a new initiative seeking to explore how companies are - and could be - run.
The Centre will commission and steer research into the pressing issues facing boardrooms as we emerge from coronavirus. Initial areas of investigation will include sustainability, the feasibility of stakeholder-oriented governance, and the implications of emerging technology such as AI for board practice.
Though set up by the business leaders’ organisation, it will be an independent body encompassing a wide range of viewpoints to encourage robust debate. A full list of advisory board members, which includes Amra Balic, Marcus Stuttard, and Margaret Casely-Hayford, is below.
The Centre will be officially launched at an online event on 30 June. Leading governance figures such as Sandy Boss, BlackRock’s and Professor Colin Mayer will debate the impact of coronavirus on governance, while Darren Jones MP, newly appointed Chair of the Business Select Committee, and IoD Chair Charlotte Valeur will provide keynote speeches
The IoD’s Royal Charter, awarded over a century ago, instructs the Institute to promote the study of corporate governance and raise integrity and skills on the part of directors for the public benefit. We are delighted to be pursuing this mission with the launch of the Centre.
