IoD Wales Search for a National Chair

The search is on for a new National chair at IoD Wales.  After 6 years in the current role Richard Selby is set to step down in November 2026.

Following on from 2 very successful terms where Richard has been instrumental in shaping the IoD in Wales.  We are looking for our next chair, to support us through the next chapter.

During his tenure Richard has led IoD Wales through periods of significant change and growth in Wales.   Positioning Wales as a key voice of the business leaders and representing the IoD at some key events.

We are seeking a candidate who will take a strategic approach and focus on driving membership, engagement with the membership community and be a strong voice to stakeholders including both UK and Welsh Governments and representatives of public, private and third sectors.

The ideal candidate should have experience of working within a senior leadership role and a keen interest in working with a Pan Wales focus alongside our 4 regional committees. Working closely with the IoD Wales team the candidate will be an advocate for driving good governance and passionate about the business community in Wales.   Ideally the candidate will be available to commit a reasonable amount of time to the role on a voluntary basis.

This role can be both challenging and rewarding for the right candidate.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest for the role with formal applications opening in October 2025.  Formal interviews will follow in January 2026 with a decision announced publicly in May 2026. This will enable a sufficient handover period between Richard and the new Chair.
