In conversation with your Bucks and Milton Keynes IoD branch ambassadors Shankar Meembat
This week we meet Shankar Meembat, our ambassador for “Digital Economy” who has been an IoD member since 2018.
Hi Shankar, what one thing do you hope to achieve in your role?
I am keen to help small business take advantage of the advances in the Digitial world – automation, for example, to further their growth.
What prompted you join the IoD?
Entering into a new consulting business, I was keen to build my network and get additional support.
What benefits have you seen from being a member of the IoD?
I have met some great people and I have made use of the Business Advisory Services.
What’s your favourite way to answer the question “What do you do?”
I help business owners get the best out of their businesses. I do this by bringing business owners from non-competing sectors together in a group setting where we help each other solve challenges and identify opportunities.
When you’re not working, what would we find you doing?
I’ll either be out with my dog, reading something or watching TV.
What is your dream holiday?
Just relaxing, doing the odd bit of DIY and being free of concerns.
What’s your hidden talent?
I’m a pretty good handyman – will tinker at anything.
If you could give your 18 year old self some advice, what would it be?
Be curious. Be willing to challenge things you don’t understand until you have an answer you are satisfied with.
Thank you Shankar – we’ll know who to call on if we need some DIY doing! Next time, we’ll be meeting Rachel Dempers, our Membership Officer. See you then.
