IoD X RBC Brewin Dolphin Breaking the Glass Ceiling – Women in Finance
This event shines a light on the realities behind that journey: what it once looked like, what it looks like now, and what must change to build a more inclusive and
equitable future.
Through candid storytelling, expert insights, and lived experience, our speakers will discuss the shifting landscape of female leadership in finance.
We’ll reflect on the historic barriers that shaped the industry for decades - from exclusionary networks to limited advancement pathways - and contrast them with the emerging opportunities created by modern governance, DEI initiatives, and shifting cultural expectations.
But this conversation goes further than observation. It focuses on empowerment: how women today navigate leadership pathways, build influence, and redefine what financial leadership looks like. We will explore the practical steps organisations must take to accelerate gender equity, from embedding mentorship and sponsorship to redesigning leadership pipelines and challenging outdated norms that still shape workplace culture.
This empowering session aims to spark action and allyship. Attendees will leave with tangible insights on what can, and should, be done to ensure women not only break through the glass ceiling, but rise well beyond it.
