For more than 25 years he has been Managing Director of Birtley, County Durham based specialist high voltage engineering contractor Rosh Engineering Ltd. After joining the IoD to learn the important aspects of running a business, for professional development and to share best practice, he became more involved regionally and nationally and was appointed national Chairman in 2012 for a 3 year term. Ian has always been passionate about promoting the development of a positive business climate. This has resulted in past appointments to the Board of Regional Development Agency, ONE North East, through to Chairing Business Link Tyne & Wear among others. He also has a passion for life-long learning and qualified as a Chartered Director in 2013. He is now Chairman of Newcastle College. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in Her Majesty the Queen’s 2016 New Year Honours list.
