This session is applicable to anyone who has achieved the IoD certificate in company direction and/or the IoD Diploma in company direction.


Alumni Chartered Director - Kathryn Stone OBE CDir 

Born in Derby and raised in Belper, Kathryn has spent 40 years of her career in public service. Kathryn graduated in 1985 with a degree in Sociology, followed by a Masters in Women’s Studies from Loughborough University.

She became a qualified child protection social worker and mental health practitioner which led her into regulatory roles as a care services inspector. In 2001 she became the chief executive of national charity Voice UK. She spent 11 years in this role representing the rights of people with learning disabilities who had been victims of abuse and crime. Kathryn’s valuable work was recognised in 2007 when she was awarded an OBE for her services to people with learning disabilities.

She was appointed to the challenging role of Commissioner for the Victims and Survivors in Northern Ireland in 2012, where she gave a voice to the victims of the Troubles and oversaw the transformation of services for their support. Returning to England in 2014, she became a Commissioner for the Independent Police Complaints Commission, with responsibility for seven police forces in the Midlands and the North including Greater Manchester police, which is the second largest force in the UK. In 2016, Kathryn took up the role of Chief Legal Ombudsman of England and Wales. In this role she scrutinised complaints submitted to the Office for Legal Complaints and assessed how they were handled.

Kathryn is currently the sixth Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, an independent officer of the House of Commons overseeing the Code of Conduct and rules for MPs, including the register of financial interests.

Course Leader - Damon Clark CDir

Damon Clark was a founder of the Brandwidth Group an International Marketing Services business with offices in Windsor, London and California. The Group was sold to an AIM listed Company in 2018.

An experienced dealmaker, Damon specialises in creating new businesses and value through start-ups, merger, joint venture and acquisition. He has then sold many of these businesses

As a marketeer he used his skills to work with the biggest Companies in the World; Apple in Technology, Toyota in Passenger Vehicles, Inter-Continental Hotels in Hospitality, Visa in Finance and Japanese Tobacco in Tobacco & E-Cigarettes.

He holds a portfolio of Non-Executive director positions and has in the past held roles in local Government and various Charities.

He has sat on many Boards and Board committees driving Shareholder value and better Governance using a mix of entrepreneur perspective, director skills, practical experience, risk management, operating knowledge as well as acting as a mentor and using his wide-ranging senior contacts.

Damon is a Chartered Marketer and Chartered Director and regularly speaks about leadership at conferences and events, and guest lectures for a range of organisations and business schools.
