Join us for a national IoD webinar examining the case for changing UK law to make sure every company in the UK, big or small, aligns the interests of their shareholders and contributes to wider society including the environment.
In April 2021, the Better Business Act
campaign was launched. Since then over 600 businesses have joined a growing coalition, including some of the UK’s best-known brands, for example: John Lewis, Iceland, graze, Danone, Fudge Kitchen, Innocent Drinks, The Body Shop and Bulb.
We have invited leading directors and speakers to share their views on why they support the BBA. Speakers, include Sian Holt, MD and Owner
of Fudge Kitchen, Joanna Allen, CEO of graze, Danny Kruger MP (Con,Devizes) and our own IoD Director of Policy and Corporate Governance, Dr.
Roger Barker, who will present why the IoD is supporting the change in law, specifically in relation to the Companies Act 2006, Section 172 - 'Duty to promote the success of the company'.
Joanna Bryan, Associate and Environmental Specialist at Rix & Kay
, a leading regional law firm in the South East, will also explain what the Better Business Act would mean for day-to-day boardroom decision making and how the small change to the law would ensure directors of all companies move to comply with supporting all stakeholders and the environment.

Roger is also Honorary Associate at the Centre for Ethics and Law at University College London, and a regular speaker on corporate governance issues at a variety of leading universities and business schools.
