Internships & placements: information for employers

Offering internships, placements, work experience or fixed-term contracts can be of substantial value to any organisation and, done correctly and thoughtfully, allows a beneficial exchange of valuable service for experience and personal growth.

In an ideal placement scenario, the company will gain dedicated and imaginative labour while the intern will gain meaningful experience that enhances their employability and skills and allows them to build contacts within their target industry. While the promise of an eventual permanent role is not a necessity of an internship programme, SMEs will gain particular benefit from improved access to graduate talent and potential time saved in future training should they decide to recruit from intern participants.
