Rowan Freeland
Rowan is a retired intellectual property solicitor. He worked in the Intellectual Property Group at Simmons & Simmons LLP for over 37 years, 30 of them as a partner, latterly as International Head of Intellectual Property. He was founding Head of the firm’s Munich office.
He was Company Secretary and later Chairman of the London Mozart Players, the charitable company which managed one of London’s premier chamber orchestras. He was also Secretary for ten years and Chairman for three years of the Intellectual Property Lawyers’ Association.
In the course of his career he has advised and handled cases involving trade marks, passing off, copyright, registered designs and patents, and also confidential information and data protection, with a focus in recent years on patent litigation in the electronics and pharmaceuticals and medical devices sectors.
He has acted for a wide range of clients, from multinational pharmaceutical and electronics companies to established national businesses and small start-ups.
