IFA says PD training is ‘game-changing'
An Independent Financial Advisor who won a place on the IoD’s professional development training programme during Black Business Week says it is a game-changer and he wishes he had known about it earlier.
Christopher Nyeko, an IFA with Belvedere Wealth Management provides advice to help families make effective financial decisions. He specialises in tax planning, personal and business protection, cash flow modelling, estate planning and investments.
Christopher successfully entered a competition run by Black Business Week last year to win a place on the IoD Certificate in Company Direction. The course aims to instil board level knowledge and skills through practical learning based on real-life scenarios and peer collaboration.
Christopher said: “I hadn’t heard of the IoD before I entered the competition, so I was intrigued but didn’t really expect much to come of it. When I won, I was so surprised I couldn’t speak. However, it’s been one of the best things that’s happened professionally to me this year. It’s enabled me to enhance my professional skills, gain insights and build relationships with other business owners – and even meet with new clients.
“I have completed all four modules of the Certificate in Company Direction Directors course and it has had an immediate practical application within our business – changing the way we do things and giving me opportunities to develop and progress my career to the benefit of all our clients.”
Christopher plans to complete further courses on our PD programme.
He said: “The IoD’s headquarters in Pall Mall is a great place to work from. Colleagues and clients never fail to be impressed by both the building and the organisation. I regularly hold meetings at 116, as well as attending Coffee and Connect networking events which offer high quality networking opportunities with business owners in a similar position to me and who I would never have met otherwise. I really think that the IoD offers access to some great minds with great ideas.
“I would say to business leaders that if they are not a member then they are missing out!”
The IoD is supporting Black Business Week again this year. Running from 14-19 October, Black Business Week aims to equip black professionals and entrepreneurs with business insights, new skills and knowledge to navigate the world of work.
