Policy Voice December 2024 Investment planning, family businesses, apprenticeships and business confidence
We surveyed 497 members in December.
Policy Voice is a monthly survey of IoD members who share their views on current business issues, providing statistical evidence and anecdotal detail we use in our government engagements, consultations, and policy papers.
Responses to our survey in December were used to understand where members are focusing their investment, and what’s holding them back, how our membership will be affected by changes to family business taxes and in this press release, calling for policy amendments which ease the uptake of apprentices for businesses.
This data also contributed to our Director’s Economic Confidence Index, which we send directly into the heart of government each month. In December, business confidence crept up to -61 in December 2024 from -65 in November. This nonetheless represents the fourth lowest reading of the index since its introduction in July 2016.
