Policy Voice and Budget Snap Poll October 2024 Autumn Budget the lead-up, probationary periods and net zero
We surveyed 642 members in Policy Voice and 702 members in our Busget snap poll in October.
Policy Voice is a monthly survey of IoD members who share their views on current business issues, providing statistical evidence and anecdotal detail we use in our government engagements, consultations, and policy papers.
October’s survey was distributed and completed wholly before the Chancellor’s Budget Statement on 30 October 2024. In the lead-up to this event, we wanted to gauge member views on the expected cumulative impact of proposed measures. Following the Chancellor’s Statement, we issued a snap poll to our members, which remained in the field for 24 hours. There were 702 responses from across the UK to the questions in the snap poll, which were designed to measure our members’ immediate reaction to the measures announced.
In October’s Policy Voice, we also asked members about probationary periods in relation to the governments Employment Rights Bill, and our quarterly net zero tracking questions.
The following data contributed to our Director’s Economic Confidence Index, which we send directly into the heart of government each month.
