UK companies and the Modern Slavery Act
Businesses with a turnover of at least £36m who are operating in the UK, or supplying UK customers now have enhanced guidance to help them comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
The scope of the problem can be ascertained by a new survey published by the Global Slavery Index - nearly 36 million people in 167 countries surveyed live in a condition of Modern Slavery. According to the survey, even leading Western nations have a slavery problem; the UK, France, and Germany each have roughly 10,000 modern slaves and the USA has 60,000.
