"Covid is a period of positive change" Jon Geldart, IoD Director General
As we emerge from the pandemic, the IoD’s Director General, Jon Geldart, believes the speed of change is accelerating and that UK directors will have to be on the front foot to keep pace.
“Covid-19 has changed our world in ways we cannot fully anticipate and its aftermath represents the biggest global challenge of our lifetimes. Most organisations, regardless of company size, type, industry or location, have had to adapt and evolve with an agility never seen before – and this includes the IoD.
Right now, our energies and focus are on supporting our members – connecting them to their peers through our branches, special interest groups, and events and shifting our professional development training to virtual and online. In addition, we’re opening up access to more members and lobbying government on the practicalities facing members as they return to work and the economy opens up.
To understand what matters most to our membership, we’ve been sounding out their views on the key issues facing business and society and I look forward to sharing their thoughts and opinions on our blog pages over the coming weeks
This is a time of uncertainty, but it can also be a period of positive change. As we look forward into 2021 and beyond, we are confident that with over 100 years’ experience advising British business, the IoD will continue to play an important role in supporting UK directors to bounce back better and thrive.”
