IoD relaunches new and reimagined Director magazine
The Institute of Directors is delighted to be relaunching Director magazine, with the first edition of the new magazine being published later this month, on 19 June.
Having been established in 1949, Director magazine has had a few years’ hiatus since the global pandemic.
Ben Walker, Editor of Director, said:
“Founded in 1949, relaunching in 2025, Director is the destination magazine for company directors, entrepreneurs, policymakers and business analysts. It will feature insights from the UK’s finest thinkers, senior politicians and entrepreneurs – with a brief to interest, challenge and entertain. The magazine is editorially independent – featuring views from throughout the business landscape and across the political spectrum. It is the essential source of ideas for success.”
The magazine will be published three times a year. The Summer 2025 edition of Director – HIGH OR DRY: Can Reeves’ growth plan win back business? – will feature articles including:
- Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds on the government’s plans to boost the British economy
- An interview with TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak on productivity
- IoD Chief Economist Anna Leach on whether the economy is a game of chance
- Professor Andrew Scott on the silver generation and the need for businesses to have an ageing strategy
- Professor Margaret Heffernan on the trouble with AI
- Dr Tim Hames on why geopolitical ignorance will wreck your business
Jonathan Geldart, Director General of the Institute of Directors, said:
“We are proud to be bringing back Director, our flagship publication. It was a much-loved magazine by members and the wider business community alike. We are confident that, in its new guise, it will equip business leaders with thoughtful insight and inspiration to help them thrive in today’s rapidly evolving landscape.”
The IoD is working with LID Business Media to publish the magazine.
Martin Liu, Chief Operating Officer of LID Business Media and Publisher of Director, said:
“The Institute of Directors is the most important and influential organisation for professional leaders in the UK. We are honoured and excited to be working with the IoD to publish Director and to relaunch a publication that already has such a rich history. We look forward to building upon this and providing its readers with a publication that will make a difference.”
In addition to printed copies of the magazine, a digital version of Director magazine, as well as additional regular Director podcasts and blogs, will be available on iod.com.
