Paul Tawse announced as new IoD Aberdeen and Grampian regional chair
The Institute of Directors (IoD) is pleased to announce Paul Tawse as the newly appointed regional chair for its Aberdeen and Grampian region.
A Director at Aberdeen-based consultancy firm Asset One, Paul started his career as an electrician before progressing through supervisory, workshop, and operations management into executive leadership. He is passionate about supporting local business leaders, developing emerging talent, and championing the interconnected Grampian economy.
Commenting on his appointment Paul said: “I am extremely proud to step into the role of Chair for the IoD in Aberdeen and Grampian. Having started my career on the shop floor as a qualified electrician before progressing into international management, I understand firsthand what it takes to lead at every level of an organisation.
A central priority for my tenure will be championing our regional ecosystem in its entirety. While the energy sector remains vital, it is deeply interconnected with our local construction, agriculture, food & drink, and hospitality industries – all of which form the backbone of the Grampian economy. Through my work with Asset One and the IoD, I look forward to collaborating with leaders across all these sectors to share practical insight, nurture emerging talent, and help regional businesses navigate today’s economic landscape.”
Outside of his commercial and board responsibilities, Paul lives in Aberdeenshire with his family, having recently taken on his most rewarding role yet as a new dad.
The announcement comes as Sarah Downs steps down after completing her 4-year term as regional chair. During her tenure, Sarah has made an outstanding contribution to the IoD Aberdeen and Grampian region, helping to grow the branch significantly while keeping engagement, connection and member value at the heart of its work. Her commitment to good governance and to supporting directors at every stage of their leadership journey has strengthened the regional business community and leaves a strong platform for Paul and the wider committee to build on. The IoD extends its sincere thanks to Sarah for her leadership, energy and dedication over the past four years.
