The Institute of Directors Jersey Branch appoints a new Chair
Alexandra Ruddy has been appointed as Chair of the Jersey branch. Alex is a chartered accountant and has 25 years’ experience delivering professional services to the financial services industry in Jersey.
A founding director of Oben Law & Regulatory and until her appointment as Chair of IoD Jersey was a branch ambassador and Chair of the Industry subcommittee, working with a broad spectrum of industry leaders, Ministers and Government officials. Leading this pivotal committee she has engaged with leaders across all industries standing her in good stead to lead a thriving branch of leaders and future leaders.
Commenting on her appointment Alex said: “Jersey has a thriving business community but it can work more effectively if we break down existing silos and foster collaboration with a shared desire to work together as an island. My experience leading the industry subcommittee has revealed a number of common issues faced by all sectors that, when addressed together as a community, makes for a more powerful voice to drive change and work with decision makers to effect that change.”
The IoD Jersey branch has grown substantially in numbers in recent years, Alex is keen to continue this, saying “there is a misconception that the IoD is a body solely aimed at senior executives. The future of the IoD and indeed Jersey business is harnessed in the next generation of leaders and they, rightly, need a voice in decisions being made now. I would like to encourage all aspiring leaders to join the IoD, and work with an incredibly committed team, for the benefit of Jersey.”
Jonathan Geldart, Director General of the Institute of Directors, added “I am delighted to welcome Alex as the new Chair of IoD Jersey. I am excited by her plans and am looking forward to working with her to build on the significant growth and success that the Institute has enjoyed on the island over the last few years.”
