Dr. Eelco Fiole CDir

With three decades years in the finance industry, Eelco has 20 years of board-, COO- and CFO-experience, a.o. as COO Alternative Investments (Switzerland and USD 17 billion of global strategies) with Credit Suisse Asset Management in Zurich/New York/London and as CFO of the Tezos blockchain foundation with equity of USD 600 mn. He gained advisory experience with a.o. PwC in Zurich and started his career as an institutional banker with ABN AMRO in Amsterdam and Maastricht. An IFC Nominee Director candidate, Chair Switzerland for Tiger21 and Chair of the Investment Committee of Aiglon College, Eelco’s current further governance mandates are in private equity, impact, tokenization, emerging and frontier markets.

Based in Zurich, Professor Fiole holds a PhD in economics (Basel) and degrees in social innovation (Cambridge), environmental governance (Geneva), blockchain technologies (Barcelona), applied ethics (Zurich), positive leadership (Madrid), laws (London), business, and engineering (both Rotterdam). He holds a.o. the CDir, CFA, B Corp-Leader, QRD, SCR, FRM, CAIA, IFQ – and CIFD-designations, is a Fellow of The Institute of Directors, volunteers a.o. as Chair of the Advisory Board of the DEC Institute (digital assets), and as jury member of the global “Ethics & Trust in Finance for a Sustainable Future”-prize of the Observatoire de la Finance, and previously a.o. as chair of the Alpha Summit Advisory Group of CFA Institute and as Director Governance at the Cambridge University Social Impact & Sustainability Society.

Eelco has authored a book on corporate governance in financial institutions and various other professional publications. Multilingual, Eelco has visited 100+ countries and has 20+ years of substantial private exposure to China. In 2024, he was named an Exemplar by the DCRO-Institute for a career of Integrity, Innovation, Leadership, and Service. In 2022, Eelco received the Inspirational Leader Award of CFA Institute. He regularly speaks on governance in finance and fintech.
