Dr. Eelco Fiole CDir

With 25+ years in the finance industry, Eelco has 15+ years of board-, COO- and CFO-experience, a.o. as CFO of the Tezos foundation (blockchain) and as COO Alternative Investments (Switzerland and USD 17 billion of global strategies) with Credit Suisse Asset Management in Zurich/New York/London. He gained advisory experience with a.o. PwC in Zurich and started his career as an institutional banker with ABN AMRO in Amsterdam and Maastricht. An IFC Nominee Director and co-head Switzerland for Tiger21, Eelco’s current governance mandates are in impact, Web3-tokenization, sustainability, private equity, emerging markets and UHNWI-investing.

Based in Zurich, Eelco holds a PhD in economics (Basel) and degrees in social innovation (Cambridge), environmental governance (Geneva), blockchain technologies (Barcelona), applied ethics (Zurich), positive leadership (Madrid), laws (London), business, and engineering (both Rotterdam). He holds a.o. the CDir, CFA, B Corp-Leader, QRD, SCR, FRM, CAIA, IFQ – and CIFD-designations, is a Fellow of The Institute of Directors, volunteers a.o. as Director Governance at the Cambridge University Social Impact & Sustainability Society, as chair of the UniNe Ethics in Finance Award, as member of the advisory committee of the ESG Exchange, and as jury member of the global “Ethics & Trust in Finance for a Sustainable Future”-prize of the Observatoire de la Finance, and previously a.o. as chair of the Alpha Summit Advisory Group of CFA Institute.

Eelco has authored a book on corporate governance in financial institutions and various other professional publications. Multilingual, Eelco has visited 100+ countries and has 20+ years of substantial private exposure to China. In 2022, Eelco was one of four recipients of  the Inspirational Leader Award of CFA Institute. He regularly speaks on governance in finance and fintech.
