Rick Denton
Rick has 30 years’ experience of leading UK and international banking, fiduciary and investment subsidiaries and managing change programmes in leading banking groups and a family office business. Now he is a director/NED working with entrepreneurs, their boards and specialist financial service and investment businesses, as well as providing coaching to next generation leaders and boards of typically recently formed and fast-growing businesses.
Through his employment with Coutts Group (NatWest), Bank of Bermuda (becoming HSBC), Fortis Intertrust and Barclays, Rick has considerable experience of board work in major corporations. As a leader of offshore private banking, fiduciary, and investment businesses, he has worked on the boards of private companies and regulated businesses, including in the specialist areas of regulated investments, funds, pension structures, captive insurance, property/hotels, intellectual property, social impact investments and disruptive technology. He has also worked with major family offices, participating in family office boards, developing their leadership teams, and creating appropriate governance structures.
Rick studied history at Nottingham University, followed by a PGCE specialising in adult education. He has an MBA with distinction from Warwick University. He is a qualified banker, trustee and investment professional. He also achieved the Henley Certificate in Executive Coaching and the Institute of Director’s Diploma in Company Direction.
Outside work, Rick is a keen sportsman as a county tennis and padel-tennis player, golfer, skier, and sailor, as well as a committed volunteer and board member for local and international charities.
