Inclusive Business Through My Eyes, an Inclusive Director

Learn practical strategies for inclusion which you can use in your workplace.

24% people in the UK have a disability so creating an inclusive workplace is critical.

Despite recent improvements in legislation there is still a huge disparity for people who are disabled. This includes lower employment rates.      Directors have legal, statutory and moral responsibilities for ensuring workplaces are inclusive for all. However, in reality it can be difficult for Directors to know where to start.

Currently 80% of disabled people have a hidden disability which covers a wide range of physical and mental conditions that are not visible or immediately obvious.

Join us for the fourth session in our IoD Inclusive Director series with insights from Catherine Riley who will help you gain awareness from her lived experiences, learn practical strategies for inclusion which you can use in your workplace to help you foster a culture where all contributions are valued.

Catherine Riley

Navigating the professional landscape as a severely sight-impaired individual with a hidden disability has profoundly shaped my understanding of the challenges and prejudices that people like me often face. This personal journey inspired me to develop a specialised training and consultation service dedicated to promoting disability inclusion within organisations.

Leveraging my unique perspective, I offer insightful guidance and practical strategies to help teams recognise and value the contributions of all employees, regardless of visible or hidden disabilities. My services include tailored workshops, comprehensive consultations, and engaging guest speaking engagements, all designed to dismantle misconceptions surrounding hidden disabilities.

My goal is to empower organizations to cultivate truly inclusive cultures where every team member can thrive. By focusing on awareness, empathy, and proactive inclusion practices, I strive to transform workplaces into environments where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated.

Following so many negative personal experiences, I am now passionate about collaborating with organisations to create more inclusive and understanding workplaces, enhancing both employee satisfaction and organisational success. Let's work together to build a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
