Generative AI Governance a guide for UK SMEs

Dottie Schindlinger is Executive Director of the Diligent Institute, the think tank and global governance research arm of Diligent Corporation, leading provider of secure corporate board communication and collaboration software used by over 700,000 directors and executives globally. In her role, Dottie provides thought leadership on governance, cybersecurity, and technology topics through presentations to boards and executives dozens of times each year at events around the globe. Her work has been featured in Fortune, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and multiple governance and technology publications. She is co-author of the book, "Governance in the Digital Age: A Guide for the Modern Corporate Board Director," ©2019, John Wiley & Sons, and she co-hosts the fortnightly show, The Corporate Director Podcast.

Dr. Erin Young is Head of Innovation and Technology Policy at the Institute of Directors where she leads the IoD’s policy, strategy and thought leadership work on technology, science and innovation. Before joining the IoD, Erin was Project Co-Lead and Research Fellow in Public Policy at The Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s National Institute for Data Science and AI, where her work influenced the UK’s National AI Strategy and AI Opportunities Action Plan. Previously, Erin held positions at the United Nations (UN IIEP-UNESCO) in Paris, Kantar/WPP in London, MediaX at Stanford University, and Thomson Reuters in New York City, across policy, strategic communications, research, stakeholder engagement and government affairs.

Erin sits on the Strategy Steering Board for the City of London Corporation’s Women Pivoting to Digital Taskforce and advises the Hg Foundation on AI, skills and inequalities. She is frequently featured in high-profile media and presents across business and government including the European Parliament, GCHQ, KKR and the UK Science and Innovation Network (FCDO/DSIT) at British Embassies and Consulates globally.

Roger has been the IoD’s Director of Policy and Corporate Governance since September 2020. He also served as Director of Corporate Governance and Professional Standards at the IoD from 2008-2016. He is honorary associate at the Centre for Ethics and Law at University College London and was previously managing director of Governomics Ltd, a corporate governance advisory firm. He is also the author of numerous books and articles on corporate governance and board effectiveness.

Samantha has founded data analytics and emerging technology firms, as well as a journal on risk, established a research lab at NYU, and led analytics at the World Bank and global macro hedge fund Caxton Associates with $15 billion of assets under management. She has also successfully navigated emerging opportunities, mitigated unanticipated risks, and addressed complex issues in highly regulated multidisciplinary settings.
