Kevin Uphill, Chairman, Avondale Corporate
Some of the most interesting people still don’t know who they are. Kevin is an entrepreneur, investor and advisor. He is also a published author and sought-after speaker, in particular on strategy since the publication of his book, ‘Creating Competitive Advantage in Dynamic Markets’. Not yet a best seller - but doing well!
Kevin’s advisory work through Avondale is predominantly focused on mergers and acquisitions, having helped buy and sell over 300 companies, but he also advises on value creation strategy consulting, and increasingly business design and organisational change.
Highly energetic and with exceptional know-how, his special skill is seeing around corners. He has won numerous awards including ‘Game Changer’ accolades. His knowledge is not the classic MBA & C suite style, but far more rooted in the real world of people and what works. Despite his extensive experience he remains straightforward, approachable and fun - albeit if a little over enthusiastic sometimes!
His personal interests range from his flock of Shetland sheep, the odd half marathon and value investing. A highly respected enigma even to himself who may just have an idea that helps, and if you don’t ask you don’t get.
Tim Hardman, Managing Director, Avondale Corporate
Tim joined Avondale in 1994 from a financial services background. Since then, he has helped develop Avondale into the leading Business Sales and Acquisitions practice, with the highest success rate of any firm in the market. He has also been instrumental in driving innovation including the establishment of the Consultancy programme which helps business owners who are not yet positioned to sell to drive sustainable shareholder value through both acquisitions and organic growth.
With more than 25 years’ M&A experience, Tim’s core focus remains client-facing and has advised on countless successful transactions on behalf of clients. According to Tim, “whilst the completion of a transaction is always a special event, the most rewarding part of his role is that ‘light bulb’ moment when you fully understand what makes a business tick and its ‘difference that makes a difference’ - often in a way that the owners themselves have not articulated and sometimes have not even recognised. That’s when you can really start doing some great work!”.
In his spare time Tim plays a little golf, but is rubbish at it, ironically because he is impetuous on the course and thinks course management is irritating and gets in the way of a good whack! He likes to keep fit, largely to fend of the impromptu attacks from his boys, aged 11 and 12!
Tim has won numerous industry awards over recent years, including ‘M&A Strategist of the Year’ at Corporate Livewire’s Innovation and Excellence Awards 2017 and AI Global’s ‘Leading Business Transformation and Strategy Specialist UK 2019’.
Whatever your next strategic move – business growth, acquisition or exit – careful preparation and expertise is critical to success. By employing a specialist, you can significantly increase value on exit and return on investment when acquiring.
For over 25 years, Avondale has created and maximised business sales, acquisitions and shareholder value – exceeding projected values for hundreds of businesses.
