Alex Hall-Chen leads the IoD’s policy work on how businesses can be supported to decarbonise and on the future of work.
The latter encompasses analysis of how the UK’s education system and labour markets can deliver the skills that employers need. Alex also spearheads IoD efforts to foster inclusive work environments and, in 2022, was the lead author of the IoD’s landmark publication: ‘The Future of Business: Harnessing Diverse Talent for Success.’
Prior to joining the IoD in 2021, Alex worked as a Policy Advisor at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), specialising in K12 education and youth employment. Prior to that, she worked in education research at Education Development Trust. Since 2023 she has been a school governor at the Thinking Schools Academy Trust.
Alex holds a BA in Politics, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Comparative and International Education from the University of Oxford.
