IoD Professional Director Series - Data Governance for Directors with the Open Data Institute
In response to growing demand for professional development on data at board level, this course focuses on director knowledge and skills in relation to data governance. It builds on the successful ODI Inside Business campaign – a series of webinars and podcasts to which the IoD has contributed. The session will open with a discussion of what is meant by data and data governance, and the common misconceptions around these terms. Using case studies and real-world examples, delegates will identify what directors and boards should know about data governance frameworks, and how such frameworks can reduce organisational risk while providing efficiencies, cost savings and innovation opportunities..
By the end of this session, delegates will be able to:
- Define ‘data’ and ‘data governance’
- Describe the board’s responsibility in relation to data governance
- Identify opportunities and risks relating to data governance as part of an organisation’s overall strategy
- Access a range of resources and tools for developing good data governance
Our Professional Director Series is now available complimentary to all full IoD members including CDir and FIoD.
